Know What Samples Will Be Taken

The general health check-up comes in three different packages; basic, standard and comprehensive. The samples that will be collected from you will depend on the package that you have gone for. The samples include:

Blood

The medical team that comes to your home includes a phlebotomist. A phlebotomist is a medical professional that draws blood from people. You can prepare yourself mentally for the needles and that blood will be drawn from your arm. It is normal to feel nervous about needles and seeing your own blood. The process does not take long and involves minimal pain.

Urine

To prepare for urine sample collection, drink plenty of water or fluids beforehand. An extra glass or two is sufficient. Do not drink excessive amounts of water or fluids, this can cause inaccurate results. For the sample to be collected you will be required to urinate in a cup. You will be able to do this privately in the bathroom.

Stool

Stool samples are required for certain tests, they must be fresh so it cannot be collected beforehand. In the case that a person is unable to give a stool sample, they will be left with the stool collection container. Once they have successfully collected their stool, they can take it to the lab as soon as possible.

Cervical Swab

Cervical cancer screening for women is offered in one of Healthtacka’s general health check-up packages. This particular screening is a cervical swab. A person having this test done will need to be mentally prepared. The test involves a vaginal swab, to collect the sample, the swab is inserted. This process does not hurt but it may feel slightly uncomfortable.

Fasting is Required

A fasting blood sugar test is used to screen for diabetes by measuring the amount of glucose in the blood. This test requires fasting, that means no eating (consuming food) or drinking anything other than water for twelve hours before the test.

At Healthtracka, we recommend that your last meal the day before your general health check-up is before 09:30 PM to 10:00 PM. The test will then be done from 08:30 AM to 09:00 AM the following day.

Ensure you are not dehydrated before your test. It helps to be sufficiently hydrated for giving a urine sample and also helps keep more fluid in your veins. This makes it easier for the phlebotomist to draw blood.

Once you book a general health check-up test, Healthtracka and the medical team will give you all the information you need. We will be available to answer all the questions you may have.
